William P. Boyce is the Department Administrator, Program Supervisor, and Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Religion & Peace Studies at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He is also the Program Administrator for the Judaic Studies Program and the MA in Islamic Studies. He was the 2023-2024 Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion at GW.
His research brings together U.S. religious history, gender and sexuality studies, and Christian ethics. He received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and thereafter led a multimillion-dollar project on HIV and religious community outreach as the Faith and Health Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow and Scholar at Wake Forest University School of Divinity in North Carolina. He holds degrees from Florida State University, University of Glasgow as a Fulbright Scholar, and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
He also considers himself generally subtext literate, is known to frustrate his friends with his dietary restrictions, enjoys [complaining about] running and bad jokes, and is an unapologetic devotee of St. Dolly Parton.
