Minor in Religion

The religion minor encourages students to explore a variety of religious traditions and histories. With all 18 credits chosen from elective courses, the minor can be combined with a variety of other majors.

Courses are distributed among six major groupings: Buddhism, Christianity, East Asian Religions, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism.


Course Requirements

The following requirements must be fulfilled: 18 credits in elective courses, of which no more than 9 credits may be taken in any one of the major religious traditions listed below:

At least two courses must be taken at the 3000 level; REL 3901 is strongly recommended.
At least one course must focus on Abrahamic religions and one course on non-Abrahamic religions, selected from the lists below.
Remaining courses are selected in consultation with the advisor.

Required Courses Schedule Notes

Students planning their schedules around the degree requirements for both the Religion Major and Minor should note that REL 3901 Thinking About Religion will only be scheduled during Spring semesters and REL 4101W Senior Capstone Seminar will only be scheduled during Fall semesters.
