Michael Schmidt's teaching and research interests include comparative politics and religion, religious thought on peace and violence, and the strategy and tactics of nonviolent conflict. In addition to his work at The George Washington University, he teaches for the Professional Writing Program at the University of Maryland, College Park, and previously taught at American University and Gettysburg College.
