After receiving his B.A. from Vanderbilt University, Jon Wood attended Princeton Theological Seminary where he earned an M.Div. and a Ph.D. in the History of Christianity. He has also studied at European universities in Regensburg (Germany), Strasbourg (France), and Zurich (Switzerland). Most of his research has involved Christianity within the cultural transformations of the sixteenth century. He is currently focusing on Heinrich Bullinger and the rhetoric of priestly identity in reimagining the political profile of a confederated state.
